Silicone and Saline Breast Implants in Arizona
How do silicone breast implants and saline breast implants compare?
Breast implant type, size and shape for your breast surgery in Scottsdale.
All breast implants currently available have a silicone shell on the outside. Saline breast implants hold salt water (saline) within the shell. Silicone breast implants hold silicone gel within the shell. Breast implants come in various shapes, sizes, and shell types. The AB Guerra Plastic Surgery Center uses breast implants from the two major manufacturers, Mentor Corporation and Allergan, Inc., in the United States.
Breast implants can be round, high profile, medium profile, low profile, elliptical, anatomic, and tear-drop shape. The size range for implants begins as low as 120 milliliters and goes up to 800 milliliters. The average size used in our practice is about 360 milliliters, but this varies from year to year. The outer shells come in two varieties, smooth and textured. All of these different possibilities must be taken into consideration and it takes considerable experience to make the proper choice for each patient.
